Hi Chris. (I’m here via Bipolar Barbie’s blog.) Thought I’d pop over and take a peek. First of all, nice pics. :0) I’m a photographer/artist and must say, you have a knack for composition. The first pic: the lightning bolt is seriously off-centered- one of my favourite things to do, by the way, and it screams “natural talent”. Also, take a look at the 2nd pic. See how the big white strip of sky leads the eye (alllllmost) right out of the frame? But then the sharp, diagonal parallel line of the road beneath it leads the eye right back into the frame and over to the left- where it bounced the eye back up to the cloud. Brilliant composition. If you don’t mind me saying, be careful with centering things dead on in the center of the frame (such as the sun in the last image) because as the eye gets “confused” where to look since it’s equally halved, and rather than gently resting on the left or right side, it sort of hovers in the middle without appreciating the images full visuals. (I learned from the {pros:- and I really hate that term- years ago, to always off-center your subject, if even just ever-so-slightly.)
Anywho…take that with a grain of salt. ;0) Your work is beautiful. I wish you all the best in the competition!
And thanks for the sunshine. ;0)

Barbie, thank you SO much for your encouraging words and kind critique along with suggestions. I’ve always wanted to get into b/w photography but anticipating the expenses of a new camera setup, etc., never pursued it. All the images I took were with my phone The lightning pic was taken from my video and I used a free app to break the storm down into frames – that one frame is my favorite! I will take your advice my friend. Look out! You may see a slight shift in my Gravatar;)

If you don’t win, there was clearly a mix-up. Or the contest was supposed to be pictures of puppies. 🙂 Beautiful!
