Meds Update & More Pics of ‘Nessa #depression

I went to see my doc today about my meds. He had me on 40mg of Lexapro and 15mg of Abilify. Since the side effects have remained the same (apathy, disinterest in life, etc.) he upped the Abilify to 20mg for the next four weeks. He said that if that change doesn’t help, then he would switch out the Abilify for something else.

I am happy with that.

Is anyone else on Lexapro with something else, and care to share?

Menawhile, since she was such a big hit yesterday, here’s more pictures of my English lop-eared bunny, Vanessa. Hahaha, funny wabbit.

I hear bunny time outs do wonders. Lexapro made me sleep 14 hours a day. Abilify was good at 10. When increased to 15 or 20, I was a disaster. Sometimes increasing isn’t the right thing. I need a tweak myself…the lithium has done well for me with minimal side effects.

Thanks Sass’. Yes, I love me some bunny naps! I’m with you on the Lexapro…wondering why I was sleeping so long and hard, smh. Have you ever been on Wellbutrin? My therapist suggested I research that option in place of the Lexapro. And did Abilify make you gain weight? I’m having a devil of a time even burning weight off, and I’m blowing up like a wood tick. What do you mean “disaster”? Thank you for your thoughts, it gives me places to go. X

I’m on wellbutrin now, 200 mgs in the am. I like it, though I think it needs bumped up for a little. Omg YES abilify had me at a 30 pound weight gain that went NO WHERE, even with 8 hours of physical labor when I worked as a CNA. Stopped the med, BOOM! Weight is gone in about a month. When my doc or nurse upped my dose, it made me manic in the way that EVERY THING irritated the holy hell outta me. Backed down the dose and I leveled out. Thing that passes me off is the professionals immediately want to increase the antipsychotic and not try to adjust the antidepressant. Most haven’t made the connection the reason we are in the hole isn’t a mood stabilizer all the time. And messing with too many meds at once. I stopped my meds quite a few times and restarted. Even using the same meds had different outcomes. Sometimes that’s all we need. A detox and start over.

Thank you ‘Rose. And yes, hopefully things will start to look up when I get a change or over the next few weeks.

Haven’t been on any of those meds, so unfortunately can’t help with that. Thanks for the pics, she’s so cute. The one where she’s sprawled out on the floor is hilarious! 😛

Thank you, Deb. The meds have definitely taken away the suicidal thoughts but also taken away my zest for life – I feel so numb and look forward to when I can go to bed each night.

      Vanessa said thank you 🙂

I was like this when I started on cipralex. Ended up attempting suicide to get away from the numb feeling. Feeling a bit better now after I stopped the mess, but I am always scared of sliding back into the dark side. Goodluck Vanessa.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Deb. I’ve never been on Cipralex but maybe that med is in my future. I am glad you don’t have those feelings anymore, they are the worst.
