This is my first post; I wanted to share my story to help myself and others.
Seeking recovery for a mental illness is one of the bravest things a person can do. Admitting this sickness has seized your mind, fighting the monster that has been controlling you for such long time. My friend once told me that he thought I had Depression, standing outside a toilet in a bar. I didn’t believe him. I didn’t understand my illness then, and to be honest I still don’t really, however I’m learning to accept that it’s been such a big, crippling, part of my life for so long.
I am writing this post on Easter weekend. The themes of Easter are so synonymous with mental illness; Suffering, bearing a cross, denial, doubt, as well as recovery and rebirth.
